Get rid of egos in West Indies cricket

OUTSPOKEN Grenada’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell has denied wanting to run West Indies cricket.

But he wants others to drop their egos so that Caribbean cricketers can catch up with their counterparts on the international stage, especially in Test and One-Day cricket.

Delivering the 19th Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Lecture at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies on Wednesday night, Mitchell sent down a number of bouncers at West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) officials.

He also yorked the WICB for maintaining its antiquated governance structure and failure to adopt a more modern approach to suit today’s changing world.

“Sisters and brothers, I want to debunk some misinformation that may have been attributed about my interest in what is taking place in West Indies’ cricket . . . . (EZS)
