PINE HILL St Barnabas repeated their first round demolition of Division 1 netball newcomers Newbury Stars with a 52-17 blowout in the opening game of the second round on Friday night at the Netball Stadium.

Zakiya Kirton, who has struggled most of 2016 in the shooting circle, also repeated her first round leading role against Newbury, sinking a game-high 30 goals from 45 attempts. Ironically, Kirton was at her deadliest with long-range shots as opposed to those taken under the basket.

With Sheniqua Thomas adding 22 from 32, St Barnabas denied cellar occupants Newbury half of their score, thus depriving them of the one point they would have gained as the losing team. Newbury’s play worsened as the game progressed, with the team scoring six, five, three and three goals in the four quarters.
