SCORES OF EMPLOYEES of the Barbados Light & Power Company are expected to stage a protest outside the plant on Spring Garden, St Michael, this morning, as they seek to have a non-national consultant disciplined.

The employees will be protesting in solidarity with a colleague who they alleged was kicked last week by the consultant, a Canadian sent in by parent company Emera.

“No meeting has been held since the [alleged] assault occurred. We want some level ofserious discipline tobe handed down,” one of the company’s Barbados Workers’ Union delegates told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday.

He revealed that the Canadian man did apologise for his actions after it was reported to management, but said workers were far from satisfied and believed his actions after the incident “were not genuine”. (BA)
