Surfer sits for his belief

FOR AROUND two hours, one man halted work at the Belle Rive Villa, Road View, St Peter, in defence of what he believed was right.

Samuel Inniss, the surf instructor who has been making headlines protesting the breakwater being built at Sandy Lane, was again protesting another breakwater – although he did not know it at the time.

It began when Inniss alerted the WEEKEND NATION to a situation at Belle Rive. He said he had been told they were building an island out to sea and he was not going to allow it to go on without some sort of interference.

“The issue is that project they are doing. I presume it has been approved [by Town and Country Planning] but no one in the area knows about it. I hear they doing an island out to sea. Why has no one informed any of the neighbours? There has been no public meeting and I don’t know if an environmental impact assessment study was done – this is total disrespect,” he said. (CA)
