WITH THE Division 1 netball trophy all but loaded onto a van heading to UWI, Cave Hill, previous contenders Guardian General Pride of Villa ended a three-game losing streak to begin vying for the runners-up spot.
Villa blasted the hapless Newbury Stars 61-36 when the action continued on Friday night at the Netball Stadium.
While Villa moved to 4/3 with 23 points, the Stars dropped to 0/6 and a meagre five points. Those two are still to meet in the first round game.
Former Barbados captain Latonia Blackman led Villa’s offence once again, firing a game-high 44 goals from 55 attempts while her sister Nadia Blackman added 16/24 with some long range gems.
