2015 tax returns ‘being paid’

SOME BARBADIANS who filed returns for the 2015 income tax year have started to receive their refunds.

There are some, however, who are waiting on monies dating back to 2012 because of “some issues” associated with the process.

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler made this known yesterday, as he responded to questions from the media.

“All from 2012 have not been paid yet because there are always challenges with income tax returns. Not all have been approved because there are some issues associated with all, but I can tell you that more than 90 per cent have been paid for 2014 and more than 90 per cent of 2013 have been paid,” he said.

“And they continue to be paid and in a few weeks’ time, they will start paying the 2015 ones as well. In fact, a couple have gotten their 2015 [refunds], I believe, already, [but] not that many,” he added. (SC)
