Four new stations ‘still not enough’

FOUR NEW STATIONS will still not meet the Royal Barbados Police Force’s need for more office space.

So said Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite yesterday after he, ministry officials and high-ranking police officers toured sites in Cane Garden, St Thomas; Black Rock, Bridgetown and Hastings, where stations are either being built or refurbished.

At the end of an almost three-hour tour, Brathwaite indicated that even though there would be four more stations, the issue involving space for lawmen would still not be solved.

“We still have an issue in terms of the location of the CID (Criminal Investigation Department). We are trying to get them in one space. And of course we still have plans of doing a headquarters for the management . . . in Wildey,” he said.

He explained that they were hoping to have the new headquarters built but it could not be expected soon because that plan was still in its early stages. (NM)
