Dear Christine,
I HAVE BEEN in love with a man for four years now, but since last year he has been acting very strange and seeing other women.
When I asked him about them, he does not deny them, but says he has his doubts about me since he once saw me talking to a man who he suspected was having a relationship with me. This is not true. We are just friends. This person knows I have a boyfriend.
Christine, he does not call me or come by anymore. When I call him, he tells me there is nothing to worry about.
Should I wait for him until he gives up the other girls whom he can use?
– D.B.
Dear D.B.,
Your boyfriend is not only using the other girls, but you too, and will no doubt continue to do so once you make it possible.
Accusing you of having a relationship is just his way of making you feel guilty and distracting you from facing the fact that he is the guilty one.
Seriously, do you think this man really cares in the way you want him to, while he is avoiding you and seeing other people? Too many girls bring themselves to the state you are in by falling flat for words like “I love you” when there is no action to support the sweet words.
I don’t think you should sit around waiting. Try to find something more interesting to do – like meeting new friends, volunteering your assistance to a charity or finding a hobby.
