Plummer free after paying drug fines

A FLIGHT ATTENDANT walked free of District C Magistrates Court today after paying more than $50 000 in fines.

St Lucian Deann Pat Portia Plummer, 33, pleaded guilty to all offences when she appeared in court.

She was fined $25 000 each for possession and importation of cocaine. She was convicted, remanded and discharged on the former charge and remanded and discharged  for trafficking.

Plummer was fined a further $2 000 for possession of cannabis or two years in prison.

A total of $52 000 in fines was paid.

The LIAT flight attendant was accused of possession of five kilogrammes of cocaine, possession of 1.3 grammes of cannabis, possession with intent to supply cocaine, trafficking in the same illegal drug and importation of cocaine.

Plummer arrived in Barbados on April 26 and the cocaine was found in her handbag during a search by Customs officers and the cannabis in a subsequent search of her apartment. (PR/SAT)
