A PATIENT and superb ride by jockey Antonio Bishop astride race favourite Northern Star saw the colt land yesterday’s 41st running of the Pinnacle Feeds Midsummer Creole Classic at the Garrison Savannah.
The Mervyn Rollins and Victor Cheeseman co-owned and trained chestnut colt took up a stalking position in the 1 800 metres race – a Grade I event for West Indian-bred three-year-olds – after leaving the gates behind Poetry In Motion, Daddy’s Wish, Maussane and Stolen.
As the tempo increased going by the two-furlong marker, Daddy’s Wish drew level with a resolute leader Poetry In Motion, while Northern Star had also been put into gear, cruising by Stolen, who was still hanging around entering the home stretch.
