That call has come from bandleaders ahead of the two largest events on the Crop Over calendar, after anxiety has risen because of a recent threatening message circulating on social media.
The threat of violence that raised concerns over the safety of Foreday Morning revellers isn’t making life easier for those responsible for the management of bands taking part in the Foreday jam and Grand Kadooment.
The two events attract thousands of people to the Spring Garden Highway for the climax of the festival.
Some bandleaders told the DAILY NATION they were generally satisfied with the level of policing from the Royal Barbados Police Force during the festival in previous years, but believed greater manpower was needed in 2016. (LT)
