It was an emotional moment for chief executive officer of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) Sue Springer when she delivered her final report to the annual general meeting Wednesday.
Springer recently announced her resignation to pursue other career goals, bringing an end to 15 years at the helm of the BHTA.
Her performance was lauded by outgoing chairman Sunil Chatrani who at the end of Springer’s report invited the entire room of BHTA members at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre to stand and applaud “one of the outstanding pillars” of the tourism industry.
Chatrani said the CEO who steps down from that position later this year, had brought “a high level of dedication, passion and skills” to the association which had served it well.
It was disclosed Springer will act as adviser to the BHTA board and will also assist in the recruitment drive for her successor.
At an awards luncheon which followed the business meeting, Springer in turn fought to hold back the tears when she bade farewell to outgoing chairman Chatrani, whose successor is Roseanne Myers. (GC)
