Police and court officials inspected the Bridgetown Magistrates’ Courts yesterday, weeks after a man allegedly tried to get on to the precincts with a gun.
Registrar of the Supreme Court Barbara Cooke-Alleyne said the incident was a “wake-up call” and promised that security would be upgraded following the incident. The security improvements would be both short-term and long-term solutions, she said.
Yesterday Cooke-Alleyne along with her deputy Kevin Hunte surveyed the court along with Assistant Superintendent Elphene Moore and Station Sergeant Peter Dawson.
The tour took in the complex housing Criminal Courts Nos. 1 and 2, the Bridgetown Traffic Court and the surrounding areas that include the Central Police Station. (AC)
