A “KAISO LEGEND” and a “soca king” came together on one stage last Wednesday night and left a large crowd of soca lovers wanting more after an unforgettable night of classic calypso and storytelling.
The Sand, Sea & Soca summer series featured two of the biggest names in local calypso – Anthony Gabby Carter and MacDonald Grynner Blenman – at the Pure Ocean Restaurant in St Lawrence Gap.
The pair took the audience down memory lane when Gabby opened with a teaser of one of his first ever written songs entitled Family Planning, followed by Grynner’s performance of the comical Suzy From The Country.
Grynner had the crowd in stitches when he told of his $100 prize money for winning his first calypso crown, but after opening the envelope he had received $60 and an ‘I owe you’ note.
