Elevate to St Tropez

ELEVATE ST TROPEZ lifted its patrons to a higher height last Saturday.

The hundreds of people who turned up at Pirates Cove last weekend would have undoubtedly left “on a high” from arguably the best Crop Over party of the season.

The Bay Street beach was beautifully transformed into a picturesque venue, which featured raised multicolour lights, a fitting décor and no less than ten different drink stations.

And people took full advantage too, by flocking to the drinks-inclusive fete shortly after the doors opened at 9 p.m.

Despite it being themed as a beach party, patrons were “dressed to kill”, especially the women.

While some came decked out in traditional beachwear, others opted for a more elegant look, with ankle length dresses and flirty rompers among the favourites.

But once the party got into full swing, attire didn’t matter, as almost everyone converged in the centre to “get down” to some of Crop Over’s biggest hits.

By the time the reigning Party Monarch, Road March and Tune Of The Crop winner Peter Ram hit the stage for the night’s first live performance at 1:50 a.m., the party was in full swing.

He still managed to up the ante, with his 2015 megahit All Ah We as well as this year’s offering Good Morning which was well received by the energetic crowd.

DJs Ras and Chasey continued from where he left off, as they flung down some of the more popular dancehall hits, much to the crowd’s delight.

The night’s highlight act though was reserved for bashment soca artiste Stiffy, who sent patrons into a frenzy when he appeared on stage around 3:30 a.m.

Reeling off hits such as Maintenance Man, Squat and Go Down, Tek Off Something, Ride It and Eyelid, those still in attendance danced to every tune.

Even at 4 a.m. – the scheduled finish time – hundreds were still present at Pirates Cove, still savouring the sweet vibes of what remained. (RB)
