AN uncharacteristic knock of 65 by Sierka Rentals Maple opening batsmen Shane Ramsey, followed by a four-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Kemar Stanford were enough to send Police crashing out at the quarter finals stage of the BCA Super Cup by 74 runs yesterday at Trents.
The game, which started at 11 a.m., was reduced to 43 overs-a-side because of seepage on the pitch and wet conditions at both bowling ends. Invited to bat, Maple was led by Ramsey, who faced 83 balls for his game-high top score which saw him hitting seven threes and three fours.Â
Police off-spinner Ashane Haynes returned the good figures of four for 38 while fellow spinners Stefan Gooding and Ravendra Persaud both collected two wickets.
The lawmen’s quest for a semi-final berth never got going despite an innings of 42 from 77 balls by Dario Sargeant, who was seventh out with the score on 105 for seven in the 32nd over.
Stanford finished with figures of 4-16 from 5.4 overs as the Police batsmen failed to threaten their total. (LY)
