THE CONSETT BAY FISHERFOLK and Fish Market has become a bone of contention for some employees and fisherfolk in the area.
One veteran fishboner has gone as far as to describe it as “a market not built for fishing”.
Speaking to the WEEKEND NATION, the woman who asked not to be identified, argued that the market had not been properly constructed to accommodate them.
Among some of her major concerns was the fact that the processing hall was not properly lit or ventilated.
“This market was not built for fishing. I don’t know who planned it, but whoever planned it obviously did not take us fisherfolk into consideration,” the middle-aged woman complained as she boned fish in a sink just behind the market. (RB)
