BARBADOS IS SEEKING to become a pre-clearance port for entry into the United States.
Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy has disclosed that a letter of interest was being drafted for submission to the United States Department of Homeland Security and the United States Customs and Border Protection Department, requesting the designation.
He has appealed for new United States Ambassador Linda Taglialatela’s assistance in pushing through Barbados’ bid, urging her to make this part of her legacy when her tour of duty would have ended.
Speaking at a reception in honour of the United States’ 240th anniversary of independence at the Wildey, St Michael embassy Wednesday night, Sealy said the discussions were preliminary. (GC)
