THE 18 SEMI-FINALISTS for the MQI/Mount Gay Pic-O-De-Crop calypso competition were announced early this morning at The Crane Resorts, St Philip after the last tent was judged.

National Cultural Foundation Corporate Communications Specialist Simone Codrington announced the line-up before a largely silent gathering at the home of the Stray Cats.

Many of the usual names made the cut, including Mr Blood, two-time Monarch Ian iWeb Webster, Adrian Clarke, Chrystal Cummins-Beckles and Colin Spencer.

But of note was the number of former Junior Monarch contestants in the group, showing the feeder programme is working.

These included Ah-dee-Lah and Aziza from Cave Shepherd All Stars; Jamal JSlo Slocombe from De Big Show and House of Soca duo Sammy G and Sir Ruel.

The semi-finals will be held on Friday night at the National Stadium.

The defending monarch is Classic.

The 18:
