TAXI DRIVER Marson Johnson is the “finest” road tennis player in Bush Hall.
One night after celebrating his 43rd birthday, Johnson captured the inaugural Line Eye Bush Hall Finest Road Tennis Championship with a determined 3-1 victory over Michael “Mikey Jean” Jean at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Centre in Bush Hall on Wednesday night.
After dropping the close opening game, Johnson had to dig deep to hold off the confident Jean in order to take the title and the challenge trophy 19-21, 21-15, 21-18.
Johnson, whose sole national title previously was a Banks ‘B’ class in 2000, had to battle from behind in every game to stop the tournament favourite Jean. (KB)
