Bajans lead CUT Games

BARBADOS WERE IN LINE to take back what was once theirs.

Led by a sensational opening day performance from Malachi Harris, Barbados held a 25-point lead over title-holders Jamaica with 33-medals on Friday at the 16th biennial Caribbean Union of Teachers Games in Tortola.

Harris accounted for two golds and a silver medals as the young Bajans finished the opening day with 279 points – 25 better than Jamaica (254).

Competing in the Under-15 boys’ category, the Frederick Smith schoolboy won the shot put with a throw of 12.06 metres before returning to take the cricket ball throw as well with a distance of 65.99 metres. (JM)
