Ex-accused suing Government

MICHAEL ANTONIO GREENIDGE can never get back the four years, three months and 25 days he spent behind bars, but he is certainly looking for payback.

Greenidge, through his attorney Arthur Holder, filed a lawsuit on Friday against Government for wrongful imprisonment, and is seeking more than a million dollars in damages for pain and suffering as well as emotional distress from being incarcerated at Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds for 1 578 days.

Greenidge, now 54 years old, had been served up a double dose of bad luck, first spending that time with a murder charge hanging over his head before charges were eventually dropped, then being detained at the correctional facility for an additional 44 days after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had determined he should be released.
