KENSINGTON OVAL MANAGEMENT INCORPORATED (KOMI), the entity established to run business at the mecca of cricket in the Caribbean, is now hamstrung with a huge bill that no one seems to know who will take responsibility for paying.

When contacted to confirm the exact level of debt, KOMI chief executive officer Ben Toppin opted not to give numbers, but did say money is owed by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). “There is a significant amount owed to us by the WICB. I can’t disclose the quantum or make-up, but it stretches over several years and consists mostly of venue fees for several events,” he said.

The SUNDAY SUN understands that KOMI is owed in excess of $2 million, with a portion dating back as far as 2007, when the ICC Cricket World Cup climaxed at Kensington Oval.
