THE KING of swing is now the comeback king.
Make that two ATP finals in a row for Darian King. The Barbados top-ranked tennis pro overcame a disastrous first set and gusty winds to pull out a miraculous come-from-behind win in yesterday’s semi-finals of the Binghampton ATP Challenger in New York.
Playing on centre court against Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan, King rallied for a valiant 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over the world No. 166 to set up today’s final against American Mitchell Krueger.
It’s the second straight finals appearance in as many ATP events for the 24-year-old Bajan ace, who broke through for his first ever Challenger title by winning the tournament in Cali, Colombia, earlier this month. (JM)
