Negotiations with Apes Hill continue after job cuts

SIX WORKERS from the upscale Apes Hill Polo Club have been made redundant after the company’s cost-cutting exercise.

The job losses followed lengthy discussions between the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and Apes Hill management, which concluded recently.

“The Apes Hill retrenchment process has been completed,” the Barbados Workers’ Union’s deputy general secretary, Dwaine Paul said.

“Half a dozen workers were impacted, but we are still having discussions with the company in the aftermath of the losses, because we may have one or two areas of concern now the changes have been made,” the senior trade unionist added. (BA)
