IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, the Barbados Bankers Association (TBBA) will have a new head.
Effective August 1, David Noel, managing director, Caribbean East, Bank of Nova Scotia, will take over the role as president from Barbadian Glyne Harrison.
An attorney at law and CFA Charterholder with over 15 years’ experience in banking, Noel comes into the role with a wide perspective and insight in the world of banking. He moved to Barbados in November 2013 to take up his present position with the Bank of Nova Scotia.
Prior to his move, he worked in the Global Risk Management Department in Toronto with a focus on international, corporate and commercial credit and before that as Scotiabank’s District vice-president for East New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island.
Noel’s banking credentials, along with his familiarity with the banking industry in Barbados and the region, are expected to provide strong levels of leadership and continuity to the role of the TBBA during these challenging economic times.
He will be the principal TBBA spokesperson to communicate the perspective of the banking industry to Government, regulators and stakeholders, inclusive of the media and the public. He will also provide the leadership of the association to ensure that consumers continue to benefit from a healthy, stable and competitive banking industry.
There will also be a new vice-president with Donna Wellington, managing director, CIBC FirstCaribbean (Barbados) Limited, taking up the post. (PR/RB)
