A BRAVE ATTEMPT by a St Michael man to protect his mother’s property almost cost him his life.

And while Brian Hinds is counting his lucky stars to be still alive, his two broken feet are a constant reminder of his close call with death.

Hinds, 31, of 1st Avenue, Hill Road, Lower Bank Hall, St Michael, told the DAILY NATION he was beaten with a piece of steel by a man he described as a “paro” after he tried to stop him from stealing sand belonging to his mother.

Recounting last Thursday’s events as he lay in his bed with both feet in casts, Hinds said he was looking through his bedroom window when he saw the “paro” approaching a house being built by his mother with an empty bucket.

He said the house was under construction and sand and grit were kept on the premises. (RB)
