CONGRATULATIONS MAY NOT be in order for bandleader Kevin Small – at least not from some of his peers.
This year marked the second time that his band Fifth Element earned the Best Junior Band title at the recently held Junior Kadooment and fair; they first won the title in 2014.
Since then he has also been consistently placing within the top three in major categories, including taking second place in the Best Junior Band category last year and third place in Festival Designer Of The Year.
But according to Small, 24, some of his seasoned peers seem to have bad sportsmanship. To him, their interactions with him leave much to be desired.
“It’s a case where they would see you doing stuff and trying to make it work but they would make strange remarks to people or be discouraging in any possible way that they can be and try to dig into what you are gaining as an artiste,” he said.
