HUMILIATED AND wrongfully imprisoned.
That’s the harrowing story of Woman Police Constable 1363 Lisa Kirton, who had the shock of her life Thursday night when she was arrested and placed in a cell at the Holetown Police Station in St James.
According to her, a police investigator team headed by Acting Station Sergeant Anthony “Chucky” Cadogan accused her of stealing two dresses worth over $1 000 from the up-market Michael Kors store at Limegrove in Holetown.
After spending almost 24 hours in police custody, she was released and reportedly told there was no evidence to support the shoplifting accusation.
But Kirton, a 17-year veteran with the Royal Barbados Police Force, sees her arrest as the latest attempt of victimisation since she had accused a senior officer of sexually assaulting her five years ago.
