PATRICK BETHELL wants to know if use of the land which was compulsorily acquired from him by Government to create a green space in Waterford has been changed. Moreover, he wants the money that was promised to him for the real estate.
Bethell, a well-known farmer, raised the question following the announcement by Canadian energy company Deltro Group that it had leased 70 acres of land at Waterford Plantation, St Michael, from Government to construct a 70-acre, 20-megawatt solar farm.
Last Thursday at a town hall meeting held to discuss plans by Deltro Group, Bethell directed the question to Keith Neblett, general manager of the National Conservation Commission (NCC).
Bethell asked if the policy had changed regarding use of this land as $1.75 million was assigned to the National Botanical Garden for which an office was set up at NCC and equipment purchased.
