FORMER CHAMPION jockey Reshawn Latchman will jet off to Asia to represent Barbados a couple of days after he competes in the 77th running of the Barbados Derby at the Garrison Savannah.

The 25-year-old Latchman, who won the riding title in 2012, is among five international jockeys who have been selected to compete in the China Equine Cultural Festival in Ordos.

Presently leading the jockeys standings and second on the overall table, Latchman has some international experience under his belt, having ridden at Gulfstream Park in the United States and over at Woodbine Race Track in Canada.

Speaking to NATIONSPORT in a telephone link-up, China Horse Club’s vice president and head of partnerships/membership, Eden Harrington, said they were trying to bring quality talent from around the world to China. (LY)
