THE REPUBLIC Bank Grand Kadooment was marred by two sudden deaths, both women.

Police say a 64-year-old woman from Silver Hill, Christ Church collapsed on Spring Garden Highway around 7:30 p.m.

Reports indicate the woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of the family, had sought a seat behind a stall.

Earlier, co-bandleader/designer of Jump Promotions Renee Ratcliffe, 40, of Durants, Christ Church was pronounced dead around 10:39 a.m. at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

She had collapsed shortly after leaving the National Stadium and was rushed to the QEH by ambulance.

Several bands observed a moment’s silence in her honour and many people paid tribute to her on social media. (CA)

Editor’s Note: The deceased is Marlene Rosita Browne.
