THERE HAS BEEN a strong show of support for a vigil in honour of popular designer Renee Ratcliffe.

Candles, flowers, posters and many other items and services have been donated for a vigil, which is set to be held at the Scotiabank gate, National Stadium at 6:30 p.m.

According to a close friend, who did not want to be named, the organising group was still awaiting police clearance.

Ratcliffe, the co-bandleader and designer of Lucky Horseshoe Jump Promotions, died just moments after parading across the stage at the National Stadium on Kadooment Day, yesterday. She was said to have had a heart condition.

The source said she left many friends and family to grieve, who were “shocked” and distraught.

“She was extremely loved… It is my belief that this is the way she would’ve chosen to die, in her finest moment as Kadooment queen in Barbados,” the source said.  (LT)

Editor’s Note: Police clearance has been received, and those attending are asked to wear purple.
