DESECRATE and burn every last one.
That is what historian and retired head of the Barbados Community College’s history department Trevor Marshall wants done to copies of the portrayal of the “patron saint of hoteliering in Barbados”, Rachel Pringle.
“I call for the total burning of every picture of Rachel Pringle that exists in Barbados because it is a vile portrayal of a woman who did not look like that, not that,” he said.
Marshall made the comments as he spoke at the recent launch of historian Morris Greenidge’s latest book Just Call Me Madam about a sister hotelier Caroline Lee.
He said that Pringle was a mystery and her mystery was deepened by Greenidge who had painted her with a “fleeting but sympathetic brush”. (HLE)
