Before I express my comments on photos published in the DAILY NATION of August 2, I would first like to express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family of Renee Ratcliffe.
It was quite a shock to receive the very sad news of her sudden passing and especially after seeing her looking so well on TV a short while before. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Every year after the Kadooment, as I am looking at the photos published in the newspapers, I keep hoping that I will not see photos of females whether from Barbados or other countries in the most disgusting and degrading positions as seen in Tuesday’s edition.
There was not one picture, but three of females bent over in a low forward position. One was even on her all-fours and allowing a male all access to what should be considered the most precious and personal part of a woman’s body.
Do these women who participate in such disgusting behaviour not have daughters and consider what example they are setting for them? Is this behaviour due to the overconsumption of alcohol leaving us, the readers of the newspaper, to liken the mentioned behaviour to a female dog in heat and just waiting for the male to get on with the job?
When will these women understand that it is written in the Bible that our bodies are to be treasured and respected as though it was a holy temple and stop abusing their bodies just to gain favour with the males.
I do not know where this kind of jamming or dancing, as they call it, that has crept in to these festivals in recent years has come from, because it is neither African or European.
Come on, ladies, do better than that. Enjoy yourselves, have a fantastic party, but please keep your dignity and self-respect.
