THE MAN ACCUSED of murdering Michael Mapp sometime between May 18 and 24, 2016 has been remanded to prison.
Thirty-year-old Akil William McCallister Grant of Blades Hill No.2 appeared in the District “C” Magistrates Court on Thursday before acting Magistrate Roger Barker and was remanded until September 15.
The 42-year-old Mapp was found in a shallow grave in Bayfield, St Philip. An autopsy revealed he died of gunshot wounds.
Grant was also charged with the possession of cannabis as well as cultivating, trafficking and intending to supply the drug.
He was also accused of entering Barbados between January 1 and 31, 2016 by sea at a point other than a port of entry. He was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on that matter.
Grant was however sentenced to two years in prison on the charge of possession of cannabis and two years on the cultivation charge. This sentence will run concurrently.
He was reprimanded and discharged on the charge of possession with intent to supply and convicted, reprimanded and discharged for trafficking cannabis. (PR/NB)
