Road repairs still in works

GOVERNMENT is still committed to rehabilitating roads across the country.

The assurance has come from Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler who made the promise during Starcom Network’s Sunday Brass Tacks call-in programme yesterday.

Sinckler said his government had agreed to road packages with the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Inter-American Development Bank “and those resources are with us”.

“There is going to be a freeing up of that because it is in the Estimates and the Ministry of Transport and Works is working with it. My understanding is that they are at the stage of finalising allocation by the special tenders committee; once that is done in another few weeks there will be a fairly comprehensive and large road resurfacing and road repair programme that is going to go on for the rest of this current financial year,” he added. (JS)
