AKELA JONES currently sits in fourth position in the heptathlon at the end of two events at the Olympic Games being held in Rio, Brazil.
Jones had the second fastest time overall in the 100 metre hurdles and finished fourth in the high jump and has accumulated 2217 points.
Britian’s Katarina Johnson-Thompson is the current leader with 2264 points, followed by Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam on 2252 points. Jessica Ennis-Hill also of Britain is third on 2242 points.
Earlier, in the day’s first event Jones clocked 13.00 seconds to finish second behind Ennis-Hill (12.84) in heat 4 of the 100 metre hurdles.
She then cleared 1.89 metres, the same height as Enniss-Hill, in the high jump.
Jones has two more events remaining today, with the shot put beginning at 7:35 p.m. local time and the 200 metres which is slated to run off at 9:05 p.m. (RB)
