Cheers and boos

THERE WERE CHEERS for Opposition Leader Mia Mottley and boos for Prime Minister Freundel Stuart as the two key political party figures arrived at Parliament yesterday.

It was the reply to the Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals laid in the House by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler and the start of the debate.

From early in the afternoon, close to 100 supporters of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) began assembling outside the gates of the Parliament Buildings.

They vociferously welcomed arriving Opposition parliamentarians who, one after the other, walked outside Parliament Yard to accept hugs, kisses and acknowledge supporters screaming their names. (GC)
