THE TRIPLE-TRIPLE IT IS – a remarkable feat achieved by no other.

For the third successive Olympics, the phenomenal Usain Bolt is the champion in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100 metres relay.

Last night, the celebrated Jamaican sprinter joined teammates Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade to conquer all comers and win the men’s 4×100 metres in convincing fashion at the 31st Olympiad in Rio.

As Bolt received the baton from Ashmeade at the final exchange, there was little to separate Jamaica, Japan and United Sates. Once the exchange was clean, there was little doubt that Bolt would be denied glory.

Jamaica crossed the line in a season best time of 37.27 seconds to give Bolt his third gold medal of the Games and the ninth of a glittering Olympics career in which he also won three gold medals in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012. (HG)
