BARBADOS DEFEATED GRENADA 42-20 in their opening match of the AFNA World Cup Qualifiers in St Maarten.

Shonica Wharton scored 22 from 28 attempts while captain Sheniqua Thomas was successful nine times out of 11.

Vanessa Reid-Cox came off the bench to score 11 from 15. Barbados led 12-5, 24-9 and 34-13.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago crushed Canada 69-9. 

Canada were down 19-4 in the first quarter and never scored again until the third quarter. (BN)
