In limbo

UNACCEPTABLE LEVELS of alienation, frustration, insecurity and, in some cases, plain disillusionment are dogging some temporary public officers.

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart made that admission as he addressed the 61st annual conference of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) yesterday.

He said affected workers have had to basically put their lives on hold, not being able to benefit from long-term transactions while their hopes of upward mobility are “cheated of fulfilment”.

During his presentation at the DLP’s George Street headquarters, Stuart, the party president and political leader, also defended the contribution of public servants to the building of Barbados over the past 50 years. (WILLCOMM)
