PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart continues to have full faith in Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler.
So impressed is he with Sinckler’s performance that Stuart said he ought to be congratulated for the “tenacity, stick-to-itiveness and courage in administering the affairs of the ministry and discharging his responsibilities in perhaps the most difficult period in Barbados’ post-Independence economic history”.
“Lesser men, I think, would have buckled, crumbled, but the honourable Member for St Michael North West stuck to the task and I think is deserving of my own gratitude and the congratulations of honourable members on this side of the house,” Stuart said last Thursday night, as Government prepared to wrap up the Budget debate.
Since taking over the Ministry of Finance six years ago, there have been calls for Sinckler to resign or be fired over his handling of the economy. But Stuart was not convinced by the arguments that have been put forward. (WILLCOMM)
