IT HAS BEEN 15 years since the Dutch Caribbean All Stars have competed in the International Hockey Festival.

However, lingering memories of the competition, friendly people and breathtaking sights have brought the team back to Barbadian shores.

Player Jasper Nijenhuis told WEEKEND SPORT the All Stars, who are based in St Maarten, were organised by captain Paul Dijkhoffz and formed out of a group of people who had a love for the sport.

With that passion there was no need to hesitate when the invitation was sent.

“Basically we have a couple of guys here from St Maarten who like to play hockey and that’s basically how the team was formed. We were last here in 2001 so we decided to come back,” he said.
