POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the unnatural death of 65-year-old Collin Greaves of Hope Road, St Lucy.

Police public relations officer Acting Station Sergeant Roland Cobbler said he died earlier today at Nan’s Beach in the same parish.

Preliminary investigations are suggesting that around 11 a.m. the deceased and a friend went spearfishing at the beach. One of the spear guns fell into the water and the deceased went underwater in an attempt to retrieve it but did not resurface,” Cobbler said in a release.

He said Greaves’ friend searched for him and also sought assistance. His body was later seen floating approximately 100 metres from the cliff and brought to shore by his friend and two other men from the area.

The Barbados Fire Service was summoned to assist in bringing the body from the bottom of the cliff. (PR/NB)
