Pep talk for new UWI students

LECTURE ROOMS at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill, were bursting at the seams as students  flocked the facility for orientation last week, ahead of the official start of the new school term.

So overwhelming was the response on Friday – Day 2 of the exercise – that two additional rooms had to be used to accommodate students.

It is not yet clear how this would translate into enrolment as registration is under way at the facility.

The campus has had a drop in student numbers following the Government’s decision to stop paying full tuition fees for Barbadian students. (WILLCOMM)
