REAR NAKED chokes, guillotine holds and direct ground and pound were the order of the night when Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) action amped up with a dominant grappling display at Saturday night’s Spartan Caribbean Fighting Championships Morphosis at the Sea Rocks Dome.

Title holder of the original Last Man Standing Corey “Stokes” Weithers dominated in the cage once again, to record a quick, explosive and exciting win against Louis Andre Murray of St Lucia in the main event.

Though a few pounds lighter due to training for the recent national bodybuilding championships in which he placed fourth, Withers was not lacking in the strength department.

“I was in full diet mode so what I did was incorporate the training so my cardio routine was still my martial arts; punching, kicking, ground work, that kind of stuff. It all blended well,” said Weithers. (RG)
