JOEL GARNER is no longer a director of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Investigations by the SUNDAY SUN have revealed that the former West Indies fast bowler and current president of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) stepped down as a WICB director following his appointment as West Indies team manager in mid-July.

While Garner declined to comment on the matter, outgoing WICB chief executive officer Michael Muirhead confirmed to the SUNDAY SUN that Garner relinquished his position as a director in accordance with the WICB’s constitution that prohibited an employee from sitting on the board of directors.

It is also understood that with Garner’s appointment as West Indies manager on a three-year contract he no longer sits on the WICB’s cricket committee. (HG)
