BARRY MAYERS made Bushy Park race circuit his own speedway yesterday at the Williams Industries/Digicel International Race Meet.

The 33-year-old Mayers topped Group 4 with two commanding victories in his speedy Suzuki SX4 to emerge champion of the Barbados leg of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC).

He mastered the wet and dry conditions that prevailed at the redesigned St Philip track, leaving his rivals in his wake in two of the three allotted races.

Mayers, a former Foundation schoolboy, also clocked the fastest lap of the day, motoring around the track in one minute, 02.971 seconds.

Only Mark Maloney, in a Mazda RX3, prevented a clean sweep by Mayers among the top class group. (TT/EZS)
