No reason at all

FORMER West Indies vice-captain and wicketkeeper Deryck Murray says he is disappointed that no clear reason has been given for the sacking of Phil Simmons as coach of the West Indies team.

Speaking on telephone link-up to NATION SPORT yesterday, Murray said that it did not send the right message in terms of continuity to have coaches suspended or sacked on a regular basis.

“I am disappointed, but moreso because there doesn’t seem to be any reason given for it, so it is really speculation at the moment. No one wants to see this lack of continuity in what the board is trying to do with the players.

“It is not helpful to change the coach or suspend him, or whatever, more regularly than he is with the team and certainly with no reason being given, it leaves too much in the air. (MK)
